INSTALLER

Northern Hardware Ltd. provides door and hardware solutions for the industrial, commercial, and institutional architectural openings industry.

Northern Hardware Ltd. is looking for a full-time experienced Installer to join our team located at the Calgary head office.

Duties include:

  • Deliver and install hollow metal doors, frames, and all related hardware at various construction sites
  • Install toilet partitions, lockers, and washroom accessories
  • Take measurements for estimation and design on potential projects
  • Provide, develop, and advise on all project specifications


Qualifications:

  • Previous experience in the construction industry with emphasis on commercial installations
  • Must have valid driver’s license with good driving record
  • Able to lift equipment, tools, and materials weighing up to 70 lbs.
  • Flexibility to work out-of-town for short periods
  • Candidates must successfully complete an employment background investigation

CONTRACT SALES CONSULTANT

Northern Hardware Ltd. provides door and hardware solutions for the industrial, commercial, and institutional architectural openings industry.

Northern Hardware Ltd. is looking for a full-time experienced Contract Sales Consultant to join our team located at the Calgary head office.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for building a customer base and maintaining revenue and profit targets
  • Provide estimates to customers based on vendor pricing for materials 
  • Respond to general customer inquiries on products and services
  • Manage purchasing materials for contracted projects from existing supplier base
  • Resolve project related customer disputes
  • Maintain a backlog report for all quoted jobs


Duties:

  • Order materials, coordinate shipping, and invoice customers promptly
  • Ensure job costing is accurate and in compliance with building code
  • Manage all project deficiencies and change orders to existing contracts
  • Provide on-site visits and inspections to ensure product and installation is satisfactory with customer and investigate any technical issues
  • Resolve any ongoing issues with cost overruns, delays, and product deficiencies
  • Assist with annual inventory count, inventory management, and product ordering


Qualifications and Skills:

  • DHI certification or working towards certification
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Dynamics NAV (Navision)
  • Knowledge of industry related programs (e.g. Avaware, AutoCad, or Revit)
  • Proficient computer skills in MS Office (Excel, Word, Outlook)
  • Product knowledge and experience in the hardware industry required 
  • Advanced communication and organizational skills with strong attention to detail
  • Must be motivated, resourceful, and able to work independently

SALES ASSISTANT

Northern Hardware Ltd. provides door and hardware solutions for the industrial, commercial, and institutional architectural openings industry.  This position would be located at the Calgary head office.

Northern Hardware Ltd. is looking for a Sales Assistant to manage counter sales of hollow metal doors, frames, and all hardware related to the door installation.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Taking customer orders for hollow metal doors, frames, and related hardware
  • Ordering materials from suppliers in a timely manner to ensure customer orders are filled within given deadlines
  • Create shop drawings on special orders to provide to shop fabricators
  • Receive inventory and ensure regular stocked item levels are sufficient
  • Provide customer service to all walk in customers requiring doors
  • Prepare sales orders and ensure shipments have been completed for all door sales


Qualifications:

  • Minimum 5 years wholesale/retail construction material sales experience preferably in the commercial doors and hardware industry
  • Ability to read and fully understand shop drawings and/or blueprints with detailed dimensions is absolutely critical with this position
  • Must have excellent customer service skills and strong attention to detail to be successful in this role

FIELD SERVICE TECHNICIAN / INSTALLER

Northern Hardware Ltd. provides door and hardware solutions for the industrial, commercial, and institutional architectural openings industry.

Northern Hardware Ltd. is looking for a full-time experienced Field Service Technician/Installer to join our team located at the Calgary head office.

Job Duties:

  • Install and service commercial walk-through steel doors, frames, and architectural hardware
  • Repair, troubleshoot, and retrofit existing openings and related products
  • Install and service automatic door operators, access control hardware, telephone entry systems, barrier free operators, door closers, and exit devices
  • Oversee estimating for project materials and installation costs related to electrified hardware and access control as well as ordering/sourcing/itemizing materials from various suppliers
  • Responsible for the execution of service schedules including routine servicing and inspection of all previously installed product


Responsibilities:

  • Instrumental in the completion of projects while exceeding customer’s expectations
  • Maintain detailed and accurate records of all work performed and schedules of work to be completed on new projects
  • Ensure continued customer satisfaction by delivering service that meets or exceeds the customer expectations and successfully troubleshoot technical problems related to product or installation
  • Engaged in continuous learning of equipment knowledge and troubleshooting techniques
  • Work with management on the planning and implementation of additional product and service offerings


Qualifications:

  • Minimum 3 years electrified hardware (including door operators, exit devices, electronic locks, etc.) installation experience
  • Familiarity with installing and maintaining building access control systems
  • A valid trade qualifications certificate
  • Proficient computer skills including knowledge of Avaware, AutoCad, and MS Office
  • Ability to work independently without guidance while providing a high level of customer service
  • Ability to work under pressure and maintain a positive attitude
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills with an ability to present information and to read and interpret complex data
  • Ability to transport equipment and tools weighing up to 40 lbs
  • Ability to work in restricted spaces and manoeuvre ladders, scaffolding and high lift equipment
  • Valid driver’s license and good driving record
  • Flexibility to work out-of-town for short periods
  • Candidates must successfully complete an employment background investigation
